Jordan Journal of Biological Sciences (JJBS) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in research involving human participants, animals, and biological materials. All research submitted to the journal must comply with internationally recognized ethical principles, national regulations, and institutional guidelines governing human and animal rights.

Authors are required to demonstrate ethical responsibility and transparency in the design, conduct, and reporting of their research.

Research Involving Human Participants

All animal experiments must be reviewed and approved by an appropriate Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) or equivalent regulatory authority. Authors must provide details of ethical approval and licensing in the manuscript.

Animal Welfare and Care

Animal studies must be conducted in accordance with recognized animal welfare standards and regulations. Researchers must ensure humane treatment, appropriate housing, care, and minimization of pain, suffering, or distress.

Application of the 3Rs Principle

Authors are encouraged to adhere to the 3Rs principle:

  • Replacement – Use alternative methods where possible

  • Reduction – Use the minimum number of animals necessary

  • Refinement – Minimize suffering and improve animal welfare

Reporting Standards

Animal research should be reported in accordance with established guidelines such as the ARRIVE guidelines, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.

Studies Not Involving Humans or Animals

For studies that do not involve human participants or animals, authors must include a clear statement in the manuscript indicating that ethical approval and consent were not required.

Ethical Misconduct and Non-Compliance

Failure to comply with ethical requirements for human or animal research may result in manuscript rejection, retraction of published articles, or notification to relevant institutions or regulatory authorities.

Author Responsibility and Declaration

By submitting a manuscript to Jordan Journal of Biological Sciences, authors confirm that their research complies with all applicable ethical standards for human and animal rights and that all necessary approvals and consents have been obtained.
