Jordan Journal of Biological Sciences
Ethical Standards and Best Practices
Jordan Journal of Biological Sciences (JJBS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows internationally accepted ethical guidelines and best practices to ensure transparency, credibility, and trust in scholarly publishing.
All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to these ethical principles.
Duties of Authors
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their submitted work is entirely original. Any use of previously published work, data, or ideas must be appropriately cited or quoted. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, will be rejected.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submission
Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal or publish substantially similar content in multiple venues. Such practices are considered unethical and unacceptable.
Authorship and Contribution
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the research. All contributors should be appropriately acknowledged, and all listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
Data Accuracy and Integrity
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data presented in their manuscripts. Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data is considered serious misconduct.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial, personal, or institutional conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of their research.
Ethical Approval and Consent
Research involving human participants, animals, or biological materials must comply with institutional, national, and international ethical standards. Authors must provide statements regarding ethical approval and informed consent where applicable.
Duties of Editors
Editorial Independence
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope, without discrimination based on nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, or personal beliefs.
Confidentiality
Editors must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose information about submissions to anyone other than those directly involved in the review and publication process.
Fair Decision-Making
Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, unbiased, and timely peer review process. Final publication decisions are based on reviewer recommendations and the scientific quality of the manuscript.
Handling Misconduct
Editors will take appropriate action in cases of suspected misconduct, including plagiarism, data manipulation, unethical research, or authorship disputes. This may include rejection, retraction, or notification to relevant institutions.
Duties of Reviewers
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without authorization from the editor.
Objectivity and Constructive Feedback
Reviewers should provide objective, clear, and constructive feedback to help improve the quality of the manuscript. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and inform the editor of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and other published works.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts where such conflicts exist.
Peer Review Ethics
JJBS follows a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed. This ensures impartial evaluation and minimizes bias in editorial decisions.
Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. If significant errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, JJBS may issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern as appropriate.
Allegations of Misconduct
Allegations of misconduct are taken seriously and will be investigated in accordance with established ethical guidelines. Authors will be given an opportunity to respond to allegations before a final decision is made.
Ethical Compliance Statement
By submitting a manuscript to Jordan Journal of Biological Sciences, authors confirm that their work complies with the journal’s ethical standards and that they agree to abide by its publication ethics policies.
Commitment to Ethical Publishing
JJBS is dedicated to fostering ethical research practices and maintaining the credibility of scientific communication through responsible editorial management and transparent publication processes.
